Call to Order:

The May 16, 2024 meeting of the Mainville Sportsmen’s Club began at 7:01 p.m. with a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance.  Twenty eight members and guests were present.  

Approval of Meeting Minutes:

In Secretary Lingousky’s absence, Vice President Gerry Von Blohn read the minutes of the April 18, 2024 meeting.  A motion was made by Bill Keiser and seconded by Ken Hall to approve the minutes as read. The motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:

Treasurer Felegie presented the treasurer’s report for May. A motion to approve the report as presented was made by Jim Cunningham, seconded by Gary Sieverski. The motion carried.

President’s Report:

President Jaskiewicz brought up an issue of an invoice from B&B tree service that was received over a year late. The issue was tabled for a Board decision.  Going forward, invoices received more than 60 days past the date of service will not be paid.

Vice President’s Report:

Committee Reports:  

  • Steel Plate Trials reported 7 shooters
  • Buffalo Rifle: 14 shooters
  • PC3C: 12 shooters
  • All other shoots were cancelled due to weather

Old Business:  

President Jaskiewicz reported he had spoken with the IBS coordinator and they still plan to send the Club the monies due us from past events.

Gerry Von Blohn reported the Club received a thank you letter from the FNRA thanking us for our support.

New Business:

The NRA grant to buy clay birds expires in about 60 days, Rod Bardo and Denny discussed coordinating to get them withing the timeframe allotted.

It was announced that the Board recommends expanding two pits and improving the other pits for approximately $18000.  Jim Cunningham made a motion to approve the expenditure, seconded by Bill Keiser and the motion carried.

Everyone was reminded that clean up day would be the next day, Friday, May 17. Mike Romig stated he is investigating the use of post sleeves to make post repairs easier. He will provide cost to Treasurer Felegie by morning of clean up day, hopefully for approval to use.

Gerry Von Blohn provided the outline for the requirements for the 100-yard benchrest (bullseye) match.  Secretary Lingousky is asked to post the date and time on the website and send a mass email.  First match to be Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 6:30 pm.

Ken Hall reported there will be a CMP 100-yard military rifle match on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Any military rifle qualifies. Secretary Lingousky was requested to post to website and mass email this info as well.

Good and Welfare of the Club:

Jay Gross is pursuing quotes to make signage posting our liability waiver info, will report at subsequent meeting. 

It was noted that lawn mowing was not happening on a regular basis.  Treasurer Felegie will follow up with the mowing service.
