October Minutes

Oct 21, 2023

Call to Order:

The October 19, 2023 meeting of the Mainville Sportsmen’s Club was called to order at 7:05 p.m. with a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance.  Eighteen members and guests were present.  

Approval of Meeting Minutes:

Secretary Lingousky read the minutes of the September 21. 2023 meeting.  A motion was made by Jay Gross and seconded by Jell Thompson to approve the minutes as read. The motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:

Treasurer Felegie presented the Treasurer’s report for October. A motion to approve the report as presented was made by Gerry Von Blohn, seconded by Donna Romig. The motion carried.

President’s Report:

President Jaskiewicz reported that fliers for the Sight-In Sunday event are being prepared.  Anyone who plans to bring a side dish should call Denny to make sure we don’t get too many duplicates.

Committee Reports:  

Steel Plate Trials: 9 shooters 

Falling Steel: 9

Steel Challenge: 17

Practical pistol: 13

Introduction of New Members:

Old Business:  

Ken Hall reported that the Civilian Marksmanship program would cost the club $30 per year.  There was general interest in starting up this program again. Ken will be committee chair.  Gerry Von Blohn is a certified CMP instructor and will coordinate with Ken.

The Club table at the Early Bird Expo in January will be coordinated by Gerry Von Blohn. People wanting to volunteer to staff the table for any period should contact Gerry.

New Business:

Secretary Lingousky summarized the results of the October 5, 2023 Board of Directors’ meeting. In summary, dues were raised to $60 per year for fiscal 2024.  This is the first dues increase in nearly 25 years.

The Environmental Stewardship plan was explained.  A copy will be sent to all committee chairmen and a copy posted to the club’s website by Secretary Lingousky

Good and Welfare of the Club:

Member Paul Shadowcat reported that he had brought more belting material for targets.  The officers thanked Paul for his continued support of the Club with the donation of the belt material.

Jeff Thompson volunteered to bring pizza for the November meeting dinner.

Adjournment:

There being no further business to discuss, on a motion to adjourn by Gerry Von Blohn, the meeting adjourned at 7:33 p.m.
